Janet Long, Chairman Joyce Cavins, Co-Chairman
Hello and welcome to the Hospital Program for 2008 - 2009. I would like to introduce my new Co-Chairman for the “Together We Can Achieve the Extraordinary” year, Joyce Cavins. Joyce is a Past 14th District President. The Hospital Program is the second longest living Program of the Ladies Auxiliary and we feel one of the most important. What better way to serve the Ladies Auxiliary than helping our Veterans. The Department Commander’s theme is “First in Defense of Veterans” and that is what we need to keep in mind while working on the Hospital Program. Each Auxiliary can accomplish both the President’s and Commander’s themes by participating in the Hospital Program by making: Hospital Pledge Hospital General Fund Hospital Donations Visits to residents Sponsor parties All monetary donations must go through the Department Treasure in order to receive your credit. It is the responsibility of the Auxiliary Chairman to fill out and send report form 1 and 2 to the Department Chairman, Janet Long and report form 3 to Co-Chairman Joyce Cavins. Report form 3 can be filed online. Our numbers were off last year and I believe it is because all Auxiliaries did not send in reports. Ladies, we do the work, we need to report it. We will once again participate in the “Hospitalized Veterans Writing Program“, the “Outstanding Volunteer of the Year” and the “James H. Parke Memorial Youth Scholarship“. Watch the Bulletins for information on these and other parts of the Hospital Program. Lets make an extra effort to visit with the Veteran residents in the VA Medical Centers, Veterans Nursing Homes, local Community Hospitals and Nursing Homes. Take time to talk to them, take them a little remembrance such as Operation Uplink Cards, Cards with Poppies attached and treats. Don’t be afraid to wear your uniform and let them know who you are. Thank them for their service to our Country and thank them for our Freedoms. Remember - Every Day is Veterans Day Check the Program (located in the Department Program Book and below) for all awards and deadline dates. Do not hesitate to contact Janet or Joyce if you have any questions, we are here to help. ____________________________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT PROGRAM DOCUMENTS ____________________________________________________________________________________ We have provided a place here for you to download all of the information that we distribute to you through our Program Book and Bi-Monthly Chairmen's Bulletins.
