Lori Taylor, Chairman My name is Lori Taylor and I will be the Young Creative Patriotic Art Chairman for 2008-09. I am especially pleased to hold this chairmanship as it enables young people to express their patriotism through their artistic talent. I always get a thrill out of encouraging young students to try for a scholarship and would like to use this opportunity to increase student participation is this very worthy program. Serving on programs that involve youth has always been near and dear to my heart. I am a past department president having served as one of Fran Booth’s Happy Huggers in 1990-91. Following completion of my year as 16th District President in 1976-77 I was appointed as Department Community Service Chairman and received a National Certificate of Appreciation from the National Commander in Chief for achieving 100% participation by the end of January 1977. In the Department I then served as Public Relations Publicity Chairman for four years, and earned four National Plate Awards, Voice of Democracy and Youth Activities Chairman for two years and started up the Department chairs. After that I served as Jr. Unit Chairman and three more years as Publicity Chairman. In the Auxiliary I am currently the treasurer, a position I have held for 30 years and hold many chairmanships, including Poppy, Voice of Democracy, Youth Activities Publicity, Cancer Aid and Research and Jr. Girls, these I have held for many years. On the District level I will be the Voice of Democracy, Youth Activities, Jr. Girls, Publicity, President of the Year Chairman, these I have also held for a number of years. In my personal life I am editor for the Southwest Messenger Newspapers, Inc. 14 publications. I have four sons in their forty’s. My youngest son is a National Service Officer with the Disabled American Veterans and recently promoted to his own office in Reno, Nevada. He is a 2nd Lt. Retired with the U.S. Army and my second from the youngest is a Desert Storm Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army for seven years. He is a life member of our post Midlothian Memorial VFW 2580 in Midlothian, IL. Their father, a Navy Veteran, died when the boys were in their teens. My other two sons are very successful in their field. After being widowed for 12 years I married another Navy Veteran, but lost him after only five and one half years. They were both past commanders of VFW Post 2580. Again, I am very pleased to be the chairman of this wonderful committee. ____________________________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT PROGRAM DOCUMENTS ____________________________________________________________________________________ We have provided a place here for you to download all of the information that we distribute to you through our Program Book and Bi-Monthly Chairmen's Bulletins.
