Hi! I am Diane Hawk and I am the Veterans and Family Support Chairman for the “Together We Can Achieve The Extraordinary” of 2008-2009. This program has evolved and has many different facets. I am asking each Auxiliary to look at the 7 different aspects of the program and pick 3 that you think that you can accomplish. These include Military Assistance Program (MAP), Operation Uplink, Unmet Needs, Adopt-A-Unit, Snowball Express, Fisher House, and Wreaths Across America. Each of these is outlined in the Department Program book (see link below).

I would ask each Auxiliary to have an entry for the Continuing Education Scholarship. Eligibility for this scholarship is an Auxiliary member, her spouse, daughter or son. There is a $1,000 scholarship given for each of the Ladies Auxiliary Conferences to help further education in college or at a technical school. More information can be found at www.ladiesauxvfw.org  under the Veterans and Family Support program.

Another opportunity in the Department of Illinois is the Department Service Officer Seminar. This is open to all Auxiliary members and information will be forth coming in bulletins as to the times and dates of these seminars.

The main purpose of the Ladies Auxiliary is to assist veterans and their families. There are many facets to this program, but we can all do our part for “Together We Can Achieve The Extraordinary.”
