The VFW National Home for Children is a
private, non-profit agency serving children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren of VFW and Ladies Auxiliary members whose parents are deceased,
disabled, or need assistance providing needed care. The Home serves children
from birth to young adults status through a variety of programs. These programs
include nursery, residential, single parent family and aftercare. The referral
information hotline is 1-800-851-0238.
The Home does not receive governmental
funding, so it relies on donations for VFW Posts, Ladies Auxiliaries, private
grants and non-members. These contributions may be in the form of National Home
Seals, Memorial gifts, Souvenir purchases, private grants, life memberships and
some of the other programs already in place with our organization.
HEALTH AND HAPPINESS/CHRISTMAS CHEER FUND:
This fund is based on an Auxiliary quota of 10˘ per member in your Auxiliary as
of June 30, 2007. This quota should be mailed to the Ladies Auxiliary National
headquarters, 406 W 34th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111. Any
Auxiliary sending 25˘ per member will receive a citation from National for their
donation.
Donations to the GENERAL FUND, CHILDREN’S
ACTIVITY FUND, ILLINOIS COTTAGE UPKEEP, and MISCELLANEOUS Fund can all be sent
to the Department Treasurer, Doris Hays, PO Box 62, Aroma Park, IL 60910. Make
sure to earmark your check for the appropriate fund.
ILLINOIS DAY at the Home is set for Saturday
