Welcome to Department President Mary Spindler’s “Leaving Our Legacy” year.

I am Paula DeDoncker, honored to be your 2017 – 2018 Americanism Chairman. If you have any questions, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or email me. I’d also be delighted to hear your fresh ideas to pass on to our sister Auxiliaries across the State!

This year’s National Americanism Ambassador is Illinois’ own Diana Rudeen. Diana reminds us, “We perform acts of patriotism on a daily basis. We as an organization need to share and educate families and their children about the true meaning of Americanism and Patriotism.”

We can certainly share and educate through our variety of Americanism programs.

The National Americanism Program Goals for 2017 – 2018 are:

  • Flag Education
  • Promote Patriotism
  • POW/MIA Recognition
  • Smart/Maher National Citizenship Education Teacher Award

We are also strongly encouraging each Auxiliary to hold a Family Freedom Festival.

Last, but not least, remember to include our youth.

«  The coloring contest is for children ages 3-5 & Kindergarten.  You can access the entry below.

«  The poster contest is for youth grades 1-3. This year’s theme is “My America in Color”

« The essay contest is grades 4-6, with this years theme being “What Makes A Hero”
