Welcome to the Believe  Belong  Because year! I am Bethany Frisby and I am honored be your Americanism chairman for the 2016-2017 year. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to call or email me anytime.

This year’s Americanism National Ambassador Deb Hanes is “most passionate about trying to reinvigorate true patriotism in our country.” Patriotism should not just be present after tragedies or holidays, it should be an everyday occurrence! It is our duty to remind and inspire our fellow Americans to be Patriotic, respect and honor the flag, and to thank our Veterans who have selflessly defended our right to freedom

The National Americanism Program goals for the year 2016-2017 are:

SMART/MAHER NATIONAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION TEACHER AWARD

 

Don’t forget in addition to these programs, we also have the Department coloring, poster, and essay contests! This year’s themes are:

Coloring Contest:  Preschool ages 3-5 and Kindergarten

Poster Contest:  “What Freedom means to me.”

Grades 1-3   The poster should be no larger than 14”x22”, and can be done in crayon, oils, markers, or any other coloring agent.

Essay Contest:   “Why Veterans are Heroes.”  Grades 4-5

Essay should be no longer than 200 words and should be typed or neatly hand written.
