As each and every member works together this year I truly Believe we will Achieve and surpass all goals and demonstrate to our Veterans that they continue to be our top priority As our veterans continue to fight and protect each day I’m quite sure they never say “I don’t like this veteran so I’m not going to work side by side with him.” We need to follow their lead and remember why we joined this great organization. Our Veterans have and continue to give their all and it’s our responsibility to Step Up & Leave no Veteran or their families Behind.
I joined this great organization in honor of my brothers and I know each and everyone joined under the eligibility of a very special veteran in their life. I also know that every veteran has a mother, or possibly a foster or stepmother (who have performed the duties of parent), grandmothers, daughters, stepdaughters (who attained the status prior to age sixteen and for whom the duties of parent were performed), sisters, half-sisters, foster and stepsisters (who attained the status prior to age sixteen). Now is the time to make contact with these eligible ladies and invite them to join the greatest organization in the world. Our voice in Washington will continue to be stronger as we grow our Membership by stepping up and working together, to honor our veterans.
Department President, Diane Pencak has assigned four Deputies to assist the Auxiliaries this year. We will be working very closely to assist any Auxiliary that may encounter problems. Please don’t hesitate to call; we are here to help in any way and to make our organization as strong as possible. The Deputies and myself will be contacting all the bachelor post in the Department of Illinois inquiring about possibly instituting an Auxiliary to assist them with their programs and work side by side with them to honor our veterans.
Under the Bylaws, and Auxiliary needs a five person team – The Red Flag Team (should consist of Sisters who really care about our veterans) – to ensure that the Membership Program includes contacting all members regarding their dues or specified disease insurance premium. Personal contact with our sisters goes along way and is a great way to invite them to participate in the Auxiliaries Activities
I truly Believe that 2011-2012 will be the Year the Department of Illinois Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW will Step Up & Leave No Veteran Behind and that we will achieve and surpass all goals.
