I am looking forward to working with you in the Hospital & VAVS program for the 2011/2012 term of office. I will be available to help you with any questions you may have.

The Hospital & VAVS Program was established in 1928 to serve our Nations Veterans. Volunteerism of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars makes a big difference in the lives of our Hospitalized Veterans.

There are a lot of challenging times for our Veterans who are in Hospitals and V.A.V.S. Medical Centers. We as members of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW have always played a large part in taking care of the needs for these Veterans and I know how rewarding it is to be able to visit with them and do things like hold parties, service the wards with personal supplies, hand out canteen books, take them out to dinner, be sure they get clothing items they may need, or just to say “Thank You for your Service”.

Each Hospital and VAVS have different needs and each Representative in the facilities will let you know their needs in the bulletins that come out every other month.

All donations for all the Programs, Hospital Pledge, Hospital General Fund, Donations to all the facilities, TLC day, and any special project you may want to sponsor must be sent to the Department Treasurer. Your donation will then be listed on the donation list that comes out monthly.

Your personal visit as a Hospital and/or VAVS volunteer is a very important part of the program. I would like to see many more volunteers sign up this year and please sponsor a youth group to become volunteers in your local Hospitals and Nursing Homes. The Veterans are always so pleased when a group of young people come to visit.

Department President Diane Pencak’s theme this year is “BELIEVE & ACHIEVE” and we can do this by all working together for our Veterans and their Families.

Our National Presidents theme is: “STEP UP - LEAVE NO VETERAN BEHIND”
