Hello Ladies, Welcome to our “BELIEVE & ACHIEVE” year

First, I want all of you to Believe so we can Achieve. Do this for the Veterans, their Families and the Children of our Veterans. I am just a phone call away if you need anything PLEASE call.

VFW National Home for Children, Illinois Day will be on October 1, 2011, more information will be coming. Please set this day aside to come and visit the Home. Our goal this year is for every Auxiliary in the State of Illinois to donate no less than $.10 per member toward Health & Happiness / Christmas Cheer. ($.25 per member gets you a National certificate)

The need is great and I BELIEVE we can ACHIEVE this goal. There are other ways to assist the National Home. More information can be found on the National Home Web site at www.vfwnationalhome.org. The overview of the Home lists the programs available: the Residential Care Program cares for veterans’ children, the Military Family Program helps children and/or spouses with children when their family care plan fails during deployment, the Veteran Family Program assists the veteran and their family during VA Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Single Parent Family Program helps a veteran’s family in crisis. NEW! Commemorative Coin:

The commemorative coin --emblazoned with the Ladies Auxiliary emblem on one side and “Thank You for Your Service – You Are in Our Prayers” on the other side to pass out to those veterans and active-duty military you encounter. You may purchase the commemorative coins through the VFW Store - www.vfwstore.org, order # 1920 they are $3.00 each (sales of 50 or more will be $ 2.00 each, you can not do this on line to get the discount, you have to call and place the order by phone.)

Buddy Poppy - “Honor the Dead by Helping the Living.” Try to use Poppies all year long use as centerpieces, wrap silverware with one when having a function. Put your thinking caps on and report the ways you use Poppies. This year we have a new order form to order poppies. I will have more info on this at Dept. Convention.

National Military Services

Your Auxiliary may assist all these programs by making donations earmarked to National Military Services mailed to Ladies Auxiliary VFW National Headquarters, 406 W. 34th St., 10th Fl., Kansas City, MO 64111. Funds may be taken from the Relief Fund.
